Rooted in Community

Our Core Belief
Our Vision
Our Mission
Our Services
We believe everyone deserves to live in a just and equitable society where every person is empowered to achieve their dreams.
Inspired by the power of our vibrant, determined community, our vision is to bring about transformational change in East San Jose.
At Amigos, we ensure that the basic needs of our community are met, deliver high-quality programs, and mobilize and organize for justice.
We do this by providing housing and rental assistance, legal immigration services, education programs, mental health services, and community organizing programs that advocate for systems change.
Our Story

Once, people in East San José’s Mayfair neighborhood would say, “Sal si puedes”—“Get out if you can.” It spoke to the hardship families faced, struggling to build a better life with few resources.
From that struggle, Amigos de Guadalupe was born. Rooted in the welcoming spirit of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Amigos grew from a small neighborhood effort into a vibrant hub serving families across East San José and Santa Clara County.
Inspired by the voices of leaders like César Chávez, Blanca Alvarado, and the immigrant families who paved the way, we work to break the cycle of poverty through transformational systems change work and basic needs services.
Today, “Sal si puedes” has become “¡Sí Se Puede!”—a reflection of hope, strength, and community. Together, we walk alongside families as they find stability, raise their voices, and thrive.
